Lord of the God-Kings, Part II

Believe it or not, I can actually write and post part II. I was planning on it, just for kicks and giggles, except nobody commented to give me anything to work with.

All right, points time:
The first person to tell me the origin of the "Lord of the God-Kings" reference gets +57 points.

The first person to tell me what the Co'remanti is gets +17 points (HINT: incredibly obvious).
The first person to tell me what that thing hanging above Chekov's mantle is gets +27 points.

The first person to tell me the significance of Chekov's name gets +77 points (HINT: it has to do with the thing hanging over the mantle, and it has nothing to do with Star Trek).

Please, somebody tell me what you thought of the story. I personally thought it was amusing, but it could be that my sense of humor needs re-trained. Maybe you need the second half of the story: if so, say that. It's more or less in the same vein as the first half, filled with names spelled backwards and obscure references and the word "jagged."

Also, so we're completely clear: it WAS an April Fool's joke. I did not work on that story for thirty days. More like two hours. And it was supposed to be ridiculous, but I suppose that if I have to explain that I have failed.

Oh, well. I enjoyed it.

That's all for now, and thanks for reading!

  1. Well, apparently Lord of the God-Kings is a rip off of the Elminster saga, lol.

Co'remanit is a mix up for the real creature, Manticore

Though I'm not 100% what the device is, his name is referencing Chekov's Gun which is a form of foreshadowing for events to come.

And now I want to know what the crap the device is used for and what the ending of this training is for.. haha

  2. More specific for Chekov's gun, it's an object that appears to have minimal importance at the beginning and then is later revealed to be important as the story progresses.

  3. Okay... and apparently after writing all of that, I would guess that the item above the mantle is a gun.. lol

  4. Sorry brah but you really expected me to read something within a mere 24 hours of its posting? Heck, I still haven't read it, because I'm busy procrastinating! I'll read it later okay

  5. Did you just say "brah?"

Curt: Elminster saga? No. Good try.

Manticore, yes. I figured that one would be easy, especially for you. 17 points.

Chekov's name? Absolutely +77 points. I didn't expect anybody else to know that, and I'm kind of impressed.

And, of course, the thing is a gun. I kept it vague, because I wanted someone to catch the Chekov's Gun reference. I'm so proud of you, I think I feel a single tear sliding down my cheek...

121 points total for Curt today, but there are still 57 points floating around to be claimed.

  6. I've just seen it as part of the "Song of the Scorcelator" series, lol. And when I looked up info on that, it was claimed to be a rip off of the Elminster saga, haha.

  7. Song of the Sorcelator, yeah. Curse you. Curt gets the whole 178 points by virtue of being the only one to read the whole post.

    Rock on.

  8. And Curt takes the win! ...brought to you by Google.

  9. I'll be honest, I read the story, it never occurred to me that it was an April fool's joke, haha. I just figured it was you being funny (what with jagged spikes, vats of acid, and the tears of orphans), but not so much in a "ha ha I tricked you into thinking this was my real story" sort of way.

I had no idea "Lord of the God-Kings" was a reference,
no idea what Co'remanti might point to, didn't note the thing over Chekov's mantle, and had no idea Chekov's Gun was a foreshadowing term.

So all in all, your prank writing is way over my head..........I can't wait to read something you actually put serious effort into! :D

  10. Actually, Wikipedia taught me the Chekov's gun thing. At first I thought it was a Star Trek reference. And then I figured out the gun part... because it was Chekov's gun.. lol

I did have to do a bit of searching to figure it out, haha. I was looking at stuff about defeating Manticores and things like that too.

Learn something new every day :D

  11. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Ptitlexn9xzsjd5fif?from=Main.ChekhovsGun

That's the benefit of a classical education.

And by "classical education" I mean "reading random articles on the Internet."

  12. You can never have too many vats of acid.

  13. Exactly. It's a classic torment.
