Spring Break

If only SNL wasn't this Saturday, this would have been like the best week ever.

It's Spring Break, so no class, and I wasn't reading manga or watching anime for so long that I have a huge backlog. So I've been reading manga as much as possible. It's awesome.

However, I can't shake the guilty feeling that there's something else I should be doing, and I can't quite relax because of SNL. Makes me sad.

If you don't understand the terminology on that chart...you and I have nothing to say to one another.

I think this chart is hilarious because it is just so true.

And, now that I count, it seems that I qualify for 10-12 of those boxes. For instance, I'm an amateur SF/F writer, I'm an anime fan that insists on subtitles, I'm a Pokemon fan above the age of six, etc. Anyone who can honestly claim more than 10 boxes gets +117 points, and I know there are several of you who satisfy at least that many (I'm looking at you, Julie).

So fight hard for those points.

That's all for now, and thanks for reading!

  1. I feel I qualify for 10 of the boxes, and am disappointed that there should be a 11th that isn't on there. They have Klingon weddings, but they don't have Renaissance weddings under the Ren-people - SCA people side? I feel slighted.

  2. I'm unsure about me being in 10 of these, seeing as how Curt pointed out, Ren Faire weddings aren't on there, and neither is Cosplay. Cosplay should really be right on up there near furries, let's just face it.

  3. Cosplay isn't on there? That's weird. Cosplay's pretty basic.

  4. Yeah, this chart is slightly flawed, apparently.

  5. Ren-faire folk, SCA Folk, Comic book fan, Anime-fan who doesn't care about subtitles, Pokemon fans over the age of six (I'd have bought the latest games if I had the money, haha), Video gamer, Role-playing Gamer, Sci-fi television fan, Sci-fi/Fantasy Literature Fan, and because I would totally do it if I knew people to play with: Live Action Role Playing Gamer. Hahaha. So my 11th would be Ren-fair Wedding.. Twelfth should be Cosplayer.

  6. That's a pretty bad chart. For instance, all gamers considering themselves LESS geeky than the 13-year-old playing the game? Anime fans consider themselves LESS geeky than people who use the term "Japanimation"? I realize the chart is a bit dated, but it seems to be using "less geeky" as a synonym for "better than" and, well, that's just not true.

Also, you damn well KNOW I fit ten of those boxes. points plz

  7. I call shenanigans on Curt. He's not part of the SCA! I've never seen him read a comic book in 8 years, nor check out anything pokemon related! Gasp!

  8. I'm not part of the SCA, but I enjoy SCA stuff, I.E. Creating two Boffer weapons and fighting Josh with it by SCA rules, Manga count as comics in my eyes, and I still have Pokemon Red and Yellow. In yo' face!

  9. Well, points for Max. Curt...having Pokemon Red and Yellow definitely doesn't count. Everyone has Pokemon Red and Yellow.

Did you buy HeartGold or SoulSilver? Did you?

  11. Clearly you don't even know what the SCA does! And you've never once been noticeably pining for a pokemon anything. So there!

  12. Everyone pines for Pokemon. Especially for Pineco (http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-rs/204.shtml)
